Abstract:
The September 2003 MODIS Natural Color Image represents a spaceborne sensor's view of the Utah Wilderness Atlas extent on September 27 2003. The dataset is from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer on NASA's Aqua satellite. MODIS bands 1,4,3 = RGB.
Purpose:
To provide a background image for GIS layers and to show landforms.
Supplemental_Information:
Spatial resolution (pixel size) is 250 meters. The three MODIS bands represented in this image are visible color bands defined as follows: Band 1 Red (620-670 nm), Band 4 Green (545-565 nm), and Band 3 Blue (459-479 nm). Forested areas are dark green on the image, and the "redrock" of the Colorado Plateau can be seen. There is a smoke plume from a wildfire on the Kaibab Plateau near the north rim of the Grand Canyon.
