Description:

Abstract:: The WWF Terrestrial Ecoregions dataset represents a subset of North American ecoregions for use with Utah Wilderness Atlas layers. These ecoregion boundaries are in standard use by the World Wildlife Fund and other conservation groups.
Purpose: To provide a reference to the WWF terrestrial ecoregions.
Supplemental_Information:: A terrestrial ecoregion is defined as a relatively large area of land that contains a geographically distinct assemblage of natural communities. These WWF ecoregions are based on the work of James Omernik (see below).
